Vertical integration - When a media company owns different stages of production; Disney owning stakes in cinemas, owning film studios, owning Disney world etc, owning the animation company

Multi media integration - When a media company owns different forms of digital technology

Conglomerate - Disney; A company that buys other companies in the same industry in order to eliminate competition and grow as a business; can buy companies in other industries too, Virgin for example

Digitally convergent technologies - the merging of technologies in the modern day to make life for the consumer easier, being able to download music, films, games all from one device; allows the producer to access a bigger audience. Producers can now take bigger risks

Fansubbing - When fans of a media product subtitle a product in order for other people to watch and understand it in order for them to enjoy it.

Canal+ :

- Launched in 1984; owned 100% by the Canal+ Group which in turn is owned by Vivendi.
- Since November 2017 Canal+ has began expanding their catalogue internationally; Canal+ International.
- Vivendi are the parent company of two huge businesses, Universal music group and Gameloft, as well as many more such as Havas


The TV industry is self-regulated; regulated by ofcom.
