you're marked on 3 sections, 2 exams which compensate for 35% each and an added 30% of the overall course on coursework.

section A - analysing media language and representation
section B - understanding media industries and audiences

shallow depth of field - where one thing is in focus and the background is blurry (portrait)

the purpose of an advert is to sell the person a lifestyle, not necessarily a product.

The advert can be seen trying to sell the bag being held by the upper class looking woman, holding the bag with her leather gloves. The advert is visibly colourful with an overwhelming sense of femininity, as well as the flowers surrounding her. You can also see the contents of the handbag; a pair of high heels as well as a purse. The target audience is definitely an older generation, over the age of 30, with having the money to be able to buy the high class bag, the advert itself doesn't involve a price however you can imply that it's relatively expensive because of how the advert brings high class vibes. Also, because of how overwhelming the advert visibly is it makes you think as the audience what the advert is actually trying to sell you, making you feel curious.

KEY THEORY 1: Roland Barthes - semiotics

semiotics is the study of meaning, the deeper meaning of words. anything that has meaning is a signifier, a thing that creates meaning is a signifier. the fact that one simple word has so many meanings shows this, simplicity as well as complication.
