The way Wonder Woman's character is portrayed in the print advert is heroic and strong and is emphasised through the mise-en-scene; her holding a glowing sword as if she's about to go into battle which completely goes against gender stereotypes of traditional female roles. This could appeal to younger female audiences as she is represented in a powerful nature; they might feel empowered as usually the heroic characters in super hero films are male. The binary opposition of wonder women being more colourful and more in focus and her male partner in the background who is visibly darker and less colourful also reinforces the ideology that the woman is more powerful, again going against gender stereotypes. The glowing nature of wonder woman connotes godly powers and will continue to appeal to the female audience because of an empowering female role while also appealing to the male audience because of her being sexually attractive. You can just about see the man in the background holding a gun whereas wonder woman on the other hand holding a sword in which the binary opposition of this emphasises the god-like nature of her character. The low angle mid shot of her makes her visibly bigger and stronger despite the gender stereotype that men are stronger even though through the portrayal of the two characters in the poster you would assume she was stronger due to the camera work and mise-en-scene. The layout of the poster clearly wants you to focus on her character more however also brings your attention to the male figure in the background which makes you question his role in comparison to this vastly powerful woman portrayed through low angle shots and her overall appearance. The location of the poster isn't anything recognisable which pushes your attention to focus on the characters themselves; the background is mysterious and foggy which is a binary opposition to wonder woman as her character looks as if she brings hope and optimism through her glowing and colourful appearance with her golden headband and red and blue body suit. Overall the character of Wonder woman is represented as a figure of hope and positivity whilst also being an empowering role model to the female audience.
