Vertical integration - Where a company buys up the other companies involved in different stages of the production and circulation, now illegal in the UK for the film industry; incredibly uncompetitive.
Conglomeration - A conglomerate is a corporation that consists of a group of businesses dealing products or services; conglomeration is the process of a conglomerate being formed; Disney is a huge example of a conglomerate.
Universal pictures:
Universal pictures is a famous film studio currently, with it's latest releases being the new Johnny English, Halloween, Mamma Mia and loads more. It was founded in 1912 and now serves worldwide, having a revenue of $4.2 billion in 2011, its parent is NBCUniversal and owns multiple companies including DreamWorks animation, High Top releasing, Amblin partners. It was founded by Carl Laemmle and a group of others. Universal's highest grossing film was Jurassic world, which grossed a total of $652 million after its release in 2015. it's parent, NBCUniversal, is an American multinational media conglomerate owned by Comcast and headquartered in New York.
Founded in 2000 by Thomas Tull and concluded an agreement in 2005 with Warner Bros and Universal pictures to co-produce and co-finance films. Since 2016, Legendary has been a subsidiary of the chinese conglomerate Wanda group.
