Newspaper Industry

The Times and The Daily Mirror are the two newspapers we will be using and looking at, but we will also be looking at range of other newspapers too.

The audience then reacts to the producer's ideology.

Media institution - The values and ideology of a media production.

it's a way to differentiate between products.

Long Road Sixth Form :

The Website gives off a more relaxed yet mature tone, however no facial expression being shown may hint at this young serious student, and having chosen the college over other possible colleges because of how mature and academic the college is. His outfit further connotes serious and maturity again.

The images used to make the college continue to look professional and hard working; despite students having their perceptions of which sixth forms are better even though we haven't been to any other colleges

The college further emphasises the success and maturity from the college because of the 97% pass rate from the exams.

In comparison Hills road is similar in giving off positive tones, in happiness and success through the opening image. The students look like they're enjoying their life as a student there while maintaining the maturity the long road website gives off.

Having a good website is essential for an institution like Long/Hills road because of how sixth forms perform differently to secondary school in the way that sixth forms have to attract future students and draw them in by being unique and mature; enforming audiences of how they work. Long road needs to be different than other colleges in order to remain economically viable, the same principal that can be applied to any media and non-media industry.

Disseminate - To spread its message

The easiest way for an institution to disseminate as quickly as possible is to have a unique and easy identifiable logo.

Shell logo

Yellow - colour of happiness and joy
red - love and passion, a positive association

The logo itself looks like a sunset, with the rays of sun reflecting off the water. The shell shape of the logo connotes to summer, happiness and adventure, travelling somewhere exotic. it's basic and simple, making it easy to understand.

The audience only sees good bright and optimistic views from the logo, distracting us from the fact how the company makes their money from extraction and refining of oil.

Starbucks logo

Green - welcoming and natural; healthy

Mermaid connotes a beautiful mythical creature, who was said to trick sailors into falling in love with them from their singing before they kill them.

Starbucks' ideology possibly wants people to feel welcomed in visiting starbucks, with the green colour connoting healthiness. they want their customers to understand that Starbucks are quirky.

The use of the creature in the logo wearing a crown symbolises how Starbucks are the best and you'll only want them after you try them.

The Times

Image result for the times logoThe Times logo uses the french phrase 'dieu et mon droit' which is the motto of the United Kingdom outside of Scotland; also using a lion and the mythical creature the unicorn, both showing power and bravery. The logo itself is very patriarchal and shows off the country very well, possibly informing the reader it's more serious and political which is reinforced by the fact there is only one colour, black, being used in the logo.
